Must be 18 years and over. Please ensure that you are fit enough to stand for several hours at a time and can lift 2kg with each arm.

If you have a group of 4 – 6 people I can organise dates to suit you.

Held in Olivia’s Leongatha studio.

WOODCARVING 101 – THE FUNDAMENTALS:

Everything you need to know to get started woodcarving! This day long class is an absolute must for anyone wanting to expand their woodcarving skills and knowledge. We will timber selection, tool selection, the different carving cuts, how to secure your work for carving, tool sharpening basics and grain direction. You will work on different timbers and leave with a project that encompasses all that you have learnt throughout the day.  Maximum class size of 6 students. All tools and materials supplied. A perfect addition for anyone who has undertaken any previous carving class or an enthusiastic beginner. Lunch supplied.

3D ANIMAL CARVING (CARVING IN THE ROUND):

This class is always such a fun day of woodcarving! A day long class where students hand carve their own 3 dimensional wooden animal, full of character and charm from a choice of designs. Maximum class size of 4 students. All tools and materials supplied. Suitable for beginners. Lunch supplied.

$270 per person.

RELIEF CARVING:

A day long class where students hand carve their own wooden panel from a choice of designs (koi fish or gum leaves). Maximum class size of 6 students. All tools and materials supplied. Suitable for beginners. Lunch supplied.

WOODBLOCK CARVING AND PRINTING:

A day long class where students design, carve and print their own woodblock print. Students will be shown effective design ideas and design, carve and print. Maximum class size of 6 students. All tools and materials supplied. Suitable for beginners. Lunch supplied.

CARVING IN THE ROUND:

A day long class where students hand carve their own 3 dimensional wooden animal, full of character and charm from a choice of designs. Maximum class size of 6 students. All tools and materials supplied. Suitable for beginners. Lunch supplied.

LETTER CARVING AND INTRODUCTION TO GUILDING:

Learn the skills and techniques necessary to master the precision of letter carving in wood. Students will also have the opportunity to ‘guild’ their letter/s (applying metal leaf). A perfect addition for anyone who has undertaken any previous carving class or an enthusiastic beginner. Lunch supplied.

CHRISTMAS BOW:

A day long class where students hand carve a gorgeous, plump bow to hang on their front door and spread some cheer! Maximum class size of 6 students. All tools and materials supplied. Suitable for beginners. Lunch supplied.

ROCKING HORSE CLASS:

HELD AT OLIVIA’S STUDIO: Over the course of 5 days you will learn to make a rocking horse! By using traditional tools and techniques you will hand carve your own rocking horse. Whilst being a simplified version of an heirloom rocking horse, your rocking horse will still use all of the same joinery and constructions techniques used in all of my rocking horses.

Classes are suitable for beginners, whilst still have room for experienced students to carve a more detailed rocking horse.

Due to time restrictions there will not be enough time to paint your rocking horse in the class, there is a lesson spent on simple, traditional paint techniques for you to finish your rocking horse at home. At the end of the 5 days you will take home a carved rocking horse, stand, swings and brackets, saddle, bridle, mane and tail.

Classes are for 4 students and held in South Gippsland, Victoria. Please contact me to register your interest for upcoming classes.
